The Use of Board Game Media to Determine the Level of Knowledge of Dental Caries in Elementary School Students

ABSTRACT

            Caries is an infection that damages the hard tissue of teeth. This condition is characterized by black or brown spots on the teeth, cavities, and other symptoms related to dental health. Caries causes teeth to become brittle, develop cavities, and can break, negatively impacting optimal grown. Dental caries is one sign of poor oral health in children. A survey of 10 fourth-grade students in Pamatan 1 Elementary Scool, Probolinggo Regency, found that 90% had caries and 10% were caries-free. Problem statement : to determine the level of knowledge of dental caries in grade 4 students of SDN Pamatan 1 Probolinggo using board game media. Method :This type of research is descriptive of the number of respondents 28 students. The measuring instrument in this study used a questionnaire sheet to determine students’ knowledge of dental caries. Data analysis techniques using persentages are then averaged and precentages are then averaged and presented in tabular form. Results : The results showed that knowledge about the meaning of dental caries was in the good category, knowledge about the causes of dental caries was in moderate category, knowledge about the consequences of dental caries was in the good category, knowledge about dental caries treatment was in the moderate category, and knowledge about the prevention of dental caries was in the good category. Conclusion : The conclusion of this study is that the level of knowledge of dental caries in 4^th grade students of SDN Pamatan 1 Probolingggo after counseling is in the good category.
