Abstract

Elementary school children are particularly vulnerable to medical issues, especially those related to oral and dental hygiene. In general, the oral hygiene condition among elementary school students tends to be poor, primarily due to a lack of adequate knowledge and skills required to maintain proper oral and dental health. A preliminary survey conducted at SDN Kedurus III in Surabaya revealed an average OHI-S (Oral Hygiene Index-Simplified) score of 3.1, which falls under the poor category. Problem statement: in this study is the low level of dental hygiene among sixth-grade students at SDN Kedurus III Surabaya. This research aims to assess students’ knowledge of dental health maintenance using the "Truth or Dare" educational media among sixth-grade students at SDN Kedurus III Surabaya. This study employed a descriptive research design, involving a total of 38 sixth-grade students as respondents. Data were collected through the administration of pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The data analysis technique used in this study was descriptive analysis presented in the form of percentages. The results indicated that prior to the intervention using the "Truth or Dare" media, students’ knowledge regarding dental health maintenance was categorized as low. Following the intervention, a significant improvement was observed, with students’ knowledge levels falling into the good category.
